Day Two

Hello from Ireland! I am currently sitting in my hotel room about to go get some dinner! But first, a couple of things.

So here's the deal. This post says that it's the 13th of June, and my last post was the 10th (which means I've missed two days, hence I'm not updating everyday with a picture already). BUT. I have good excuses for not doing it, and I'm going to make up for it.

Friday I spent the whole day getting everything ready for my flights. And THAT was a pain in the butt! Especially packing. That was the worst part. And that is what this picture is; the beginning of the organization of "the mess." I have a lot of things to take!

So after I got everything organized enough to fit it into my two suitcases, I had to check and make sure that they were under 50 pounds so I wouldn't get charged for an extra expense. But, of course, they weren't. After packing and re-packing at LEAST five times, I still couldn't get it. That is what this picture is - me re-packing and moving things between suitcases to try and get it under the weight limits.

So it ended up that my medium bag was STUFFED full and 45 pounds, while my big pink suitcase WASN'T EVEN FULL and weighed 66 pounds. Meaning that I had to pay an extra $50 to check it. So frustrating, but oh well. I made it, that's the important thing.

So Saturday was the beginning of my traveling experience. I left Denver at noon and got to Newark at 6:30 their time, and then I had a connecting flight from Newark to Dublin that left a little after 7:00. On my itinerary, it said that I had 57 minutes in between flights, and I thought that would be enough, but it wasn't at all. My plane landed as soon as my connecting flight started boarding, and by the time I finally got off the plane, I needed to find my gate, and QUICK. So I started going what I thought was the right way (there was a map of the Newark airport on the plane and I figured I was going the right way) but after about five minutes I realized I wasn't. I had to go the exact opposite way, and by this time I was cutting it REALLY close. There were announcements that my plane to Dublin was almost done boarding so I increased my speed and started walking really fast. Then I finally got to the terminal, but my gate was the last one on it, so I was literally RUNNING down the terminal as the announcement came on announcing my name and that "the gate is closing in two minutes (which was a lie)." So I finally made it, with almost no time to spare, and of course I got onto the plane all sweaty and disgusting because I was sprinting down the terminal with my stupid carry-ons. Thank GOODNESS I didn't miss it, I don't know what I would have done if I did.

I arrived in Dublin at 7:00 am on Sunday and took a cab from the airport to my hotel. The cab ride was awesome. I was so excited to see Dublin so I was staring at everything with a huge goofy smile on my face the whole way. And my cab driver was SO nice. He drove me through the city center and showed me some good landmarks and where my bus will take me from the student housing to where I'll be interning at. Everything is so awesome here...I can't even explain it but it's great. There are cute houses (I saw one with a pink front door with a pink garage door to match!) and really cute businesses and restaurants and pubs. I'm really excited to start looking around. I accidentally slept all day though (my alarm didn't go off to wake me up from a "nap") and it's about dinner time and it feels like I just woke up from a night of sleep.

So basically my excuses for not posting the past couple of days is because I've been super busy and having some technical difficulties. I tried to post something while waiting for my plane at DIA but the internet there was being stupid and wouldn't let me put up pictures.

Anywhos, that's all for today! I need to go to dinner and hopefully sleep all night tonight, and then tomorrow my friend Larissa is coming into town (YAY!) and then we get to move into our student housing! And then it's all fun stuff from there! I promise I'll post more cooler pictures tomorrow. And they'll be of Ireland this time, not of me!

Until then.

;)
