Oh hello there!!
I hope you all are having a fabulous Wednesday! Mine was kind of a normal day I suppose...a lot better than yesterday anyway.
Sorry about no picture yesterday, my day just kept getting worse and worse and I ended up getting really stressed out and frustrated because of everything. Anywho, I'm feeling better, which is always good!
I worked today...nothing terribly exciting. Did some administrative work and organized cases and stuff for my supervisor. Nothing noteworthy. Tomorrow though, I might be watching a human rights case! One of my supervisor's friends deals with human rights law, and she thinks her case is going to court. I really hope it does, I would love love LOVE to see an Irish human rights case in person! So cool!
But after work while I waiting for my bus, I went into Carroll's, which is the cheesy tourist shop where you can get everything Irish. And I mean everything. Stupid t-shirts with even stupider writing on it, keychains, bags, etc etc. It's a little much, honestly. But I was looking for something specific...and I figured they would have it. And they did!
I've been wanting a Claddagh ring for a while because I remember one my friends from elementary school having one, and I thought it was the coolest thing! So I've been on the lookout for one ever since I got here. It's even cooler than most Claddagh rings you see in the states, because this one is GENUINE Irish! Sweet! Anyway, here is a picture of the ring up close.
So the Claddagh ring was traditionally worn as an Irish wedding ring. But lately it has been used to convey the wearer's romantic availability. The ring is comprised of two hands holding a heart that is topped with a crown, each which symbolizes something different. The hands symbolize friendship, the heart, love and the crown, loyalty. The expression that is associated with the ring the most is, "With my two hands I give you my heart, and crown it with my loyalty." But there are certain ways to wear the ring to tell others the status of your "heart." If you are single and looking, you are supposed to wear it on your right hand with the heart pointing out but if you are taken then you are supposed to wear the ring with the heart pointed in on your right hand. You can also wear it on your left hand, but it has different meanings. If you wear it with the heart pointing out on your left hand, that means you are engaged, but if you wear it with the heart pointing in, that means your heart is "taken" and you are married. Pretty cool huh? I love it!
And obviously I am wearing it on my right hand with the heart pointing out which tells people that I am looking for love! I really like the ring...it's cute and small and it means something, which I think is the best. And it's very Irish! My Irish symbolism ring that I got in Dublin. Perfect!
Anyway, that was the highlight of my day! I'm excited for tomorrow! Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures of the outside of the Four Courts or something, and then I'll let you know how my observation of a human rights case went!
Until then.
;)
