So this will be a quick post...not a very exciting day, with equally exciting pictures.
Today everyone from the different colleges who are participating in the EUSA program had the official orientation. We learned the details of the program, as well as a little bit more about our internships, what to expect in the interviews, our apartments, the differences between Irish and American cultures, etc. It was very helpful because I learned a lot - more to come on that later, when I have actually experienced the things that they were talking about today.
The picture today is from after our orientation; it went from 10:00 until 2:00 and they didn't feed us, so we were starving. Larissa and I didn't have the patience to walk to the grocery store and get food, so we bought our lunch at the Spar convenience store that is basically connected to our apartments. We were really hungry so we bought a lot of food!
Tomorrow is going to be a BUSY day. I have a confirmation interview at 2:00 with the company I will be interning at, and it is right in the middle of the City Centre, which is pretty convenient. Then CSU and some other schools have a welcome reception at the Brazen Head, which is Dublin's oldest pub. Larissa and I both have our interviews tomorrow afternoon so we are planning on heading down to the City Centre early tomorrow (so we can figure out the bus system and NOT be late to our interviews) and then we'll get lunch and hang out until we go our separate ways. We are planning on just staying downtown until our dinner and hopefully hitting up some pubs after our welcome reception. I'm really excited for that. I am VERY anxious to get a taste of pub life downtown...I think it will different than what we experienced the other night because there will be a more diverse crowd at the different pubs. Hopefully we'll be able to go to some pubs where the locals are to get a REAL taste of the local Irish pub scene.
Because I'll be busy the majority of the day, I'm going to TRY to post something, but I may not get around to it, so this is me apologizing ahead of time. If I don't have the time then I'll make it a good one on Thursday (a.k.a lots of pictures).
Alriiiiiiiighty then. I need to go to bed - I'm waking up early (HAVE to not be late tomorrow!!!!) and it is already 1:30 am here. Yikes. I hope I can sleep, and I hope my interview goes well! I said this was going to be a quick post...I supposed I lied.
Goodnight! You'll be seeing a post from me soon.
Until then.
;)
