My last post was on Sunday...and it is now Wednesday. I'm really in trouble! These multiple day posts have GOT to stop. And I'm hoping they will. Starting....tomorrow. Deal.
The game we went to was Galway v. Kilkenny. This game was a pretty big deal because it was the Senior Championship Final - Kilkenny was the favorite to win because they always do, so Galway was the underdog in this match. We cheered for Galway (because they are cooler, obviously) but Kilkenny beat us pretty badly. Good game though, that's for sure. Very action packed. I saw a bunch of people wearing these cool windbreakers, and I plan on buying one when they don't cost 60 ish euros at the stadium.
This picture is from Monday...Larissa went to the Guinness storehouse again with the boys who were visiting and she came back with this pewter (?) mug from the gift shop. It was really cool but she originally wasn't going to drink out of it. And I was making fun of her because she wasn't planning on it, but then ended up drinking out of it....although she wasn't drinking Guinness out of it, which is a little silly, but hey, that's just me. I was working all day but came back to enjoy a Bulmers with everyone.
Tuesday was a fun day! Some of Larissa's other friends from the States were in Dublin so we met up with them after work, for what started as just a pint. I met them at The Brazen Head and we got a pint there. We were sitting in this room there with dollar bills just lined all over the walls. It looked really awesome. Luckily, one of the guys we were with had a couple of dollar bills, so we decided to write on it!
That is kind of an inside joke with all of us...we were on the bus heading toward the Guinness storehouse our first weekend in town and our bus had to turn around and go another way because the Garda was closing down the road because there was literally, a bomb scare at Christ Church. And so this lady was on the phone with someone and she just started yelling in whatever accent, "THERE'S A BOMB SCARE AT CHRIST CHURCH!! I'M COMIN' HOME!" It was really super funny. A lot more funny that I'm making it sound right now, I promise. Anyway, so we put that up on the wall, and it will be there forever! Until someone covers it though :( Hopefully I'll be able to go back at some point and see it again. How cool would that be?! Larissa and I have OFFICIALLY made our mark in Dublin!
So we were just supposed to go and get a pint (singular) with these guys, right? But after our pint at The Brazen Head we went and got dinner and another pint at The Hairy Lemon, and then we went next door to this sports bar place to watch the football game and have a couple more pints. That "one pint" with friends turned into a "multiple pints plus some Irish shots" with friends, unfortunately. Don't ask me how it happened...all I know is that it did.
We started out with a Baby Guinness shot (yum!) and then graduated to an Irish flag shot, pictured here. I'm still not 100% sure of what is in them, but they were good. We think it was mint liquor or some kind at the bottom (green), Bailey's in the middle, and then butterscotch something on top. It was SO delicious. But they knocked us out pretty well! Still a very fun and successful night watching the football game last night.
Today I worked...and then came home and hung out. I just switched my returning ticket so I can fly back on August 15th so my Mom can come out and we can drive around the country and do our own thing after the program ends. Which, by the way, is in a month. Exactly from today, our program is over. It's crazy, I can't even believe the time has flown by so fast! So lately whenever I have a break I'll just spend my time looking at places to see and go around Ireland to help plan our trip. I also think Continental charged me another plane ticket on my way home...so I've been working on getting that fixed in the meantime.
I found some REALLY super duper cute shoes in the window of a shoe store called Office the other day. I might go and see them tomorrow, just because they are too cute to resist.
Tomorrow is Thursday (yay!) and some girls bought their tickets to Riverdance last night for tomorrow night. Larissa and I didn't because we weren't at the apartment last night to buy them, so me and her and Alyssa are going to play a fun game with Bulmers tomorrow night. I'm excited for that!
So that's it for now. I hope you all like my pictures. And for everyone who is waiting on an email response from me, I'm sorry!! Super duper busy (still) and I'll write back to you the moment I get some down time. I love you all!
I'll try and post something tomorrow! Hopefully I don't come home with a new pair of shoes tomorrow! Yikes!
;)
