Hello one and all!
So I am back from another successful weekend trip! As I'm sure you know, the girls and I headed up to Northern Ireland on Friday night and we got back earlier tonight. Overall it was a great trip! But I have a lot of other things that I want to get done before work tomorrow so I'm going to make this a short post about my day off on Friday. Then I'll do a good post tomorrow (tentatively) about our trip to Belfast.
So Friday I had the day off (WOOO!) because my boss was presenting a case in Dundalk and wouldn't be at the Dublin office at all. So Larissa and I decided to go and see the Book of Kells at Trinity College. We've been meaning to see that for a while, we just ran out of time before our internship started so we never got to it. Thank goodness for days off though!
This is a picture on the Trinity campus. We went on (what I call) a "perfect Ireland day" (cool and cloudy but not rainy) which was perfect for strolling around the campus a little. It's a really pretty campus, although this picture doesn't really do it justice.
It's a different kind of campus than any campus I've been on though. It's a touristy spot so there are always tourists walking around and taking pictures. And I don't know how much I would enjoy that if I were a student there. I think that would get really old really fast if I was on that campus everyday. That was different, for sure. Also, you couldn't even walk on the grass! They had fences that said to stay off the grass to keep it looking pretty and whatever, sure. But that bugged me!! It's definitely not the kind of campus atmosphere that I'm used to which I'm sure is what made it feel more like a tourist attraction than a campus. But still gorgeous, nonetheless!
Anyway, so Larissa and I went and stood in line and got tickets right as the Book of Kells exhibit was opening, so we spent a couple of hours in there. There was a museum type thing before the actual book that talked about the history surrounding the book as well as other things like who wrote it, where, etc etc. We couldn't take pictures of anything in there though! And especially not the actual Book of Kells :(
I did manage to sneak this picture though (HAD to. I couldn't not leave that place without some kind of Book of Kells picture, right?!)

This is hard to see, but it is a display of some of the illuminated alphabet within the Book of Kells. It is written in Latin and the beginning of some letters or phrases are decorated A LOT. The whole thing is really intricate. And writing in Latin in the style that the book is written in takes FOREVER, so I'd imagine that the pictures and everything took ENTIRELY too much time. But the manuscript was gorgeous. Just really beautiful. It's another thing that is just filled with so much history that it's almost hard to comprehend how old it is. I love it!
So.............that is all I have to say for tonight. I need to get to bed anyway though...tomorrow is going to be exciting at work! We have a settlement meeting for an accident that happened on RyanAir in 2006 to a 9 month old baby. It's a really interesting case, but I don't want to go into the details right now....so maybe another day?
Okie dokie! I'll post tomorrow! Talk to you then!!
